Alison Merrien became the first Bowls Guernsey Association Life Member last night at the Annual General Meeting (26th November 2008) following her successes in bowls. The Bowls Guernsey Association was formed in 2004 replacing the Guernsey Bowls Association (men) and Guernsey Bowling Women’s Association (women)

Alison Merrien won her fourth World title this year, the 2008 World Cup Women Singles in Australia , beating the World Number One Val Smith ( New Zealand )

Alison also won for the second year following the 2008 British Isles Ladies Single championship (also won in 2002) beating Sarah Seymour (England) in the final.

Alison was inducted into the Guernsey Sports Hero Hall of Frame in October 2008.

After her performances over this year Alison was promoted by World Bowls from fourth to second in the World Ranking List.

2006 - WIBC Pairs - Runner-up with Nick Donaldson
2007 – British Isles Ladies Singles Champion Winner
2007 - World Outdoor Champion of Champions Singles - Winner
2008 – British Isles Ladies Singles Champion Winner
